Geek Out.

I am a sucker for globes and maps, so when I saw this typographic map by Chicago designer, Nancy McCabe, on Fast Co. Design, I was instantly smitten.

Off to Boston today...

Babushka.

I had quite a matryoshka - or nesting doll - collection when I was young, that I adored. I find this babushka's mug shot endlessly entertaining, by Emma at Home.

Dry the River.

Finding innovative approaches to print campaigns amusing lately (see Become Someone Else).  Here, artist Xavier Barrade and FOAM agency created these large format posters to promote the band Dry the River in London.

The Wonder of a City.

Inspired by his travels, photographer Jasper James produced this series of silhouettes that showcase the wonder a city inspires in those who experience it. I love the range of emotion that is whimsically captured.

Bringing the Outdoors In.

Álvaro Sánchez-Montañés captured these beautiful images in Kolmanskop, a town in the Namib desert in southern Namibia, which was once a rich diamond mining village. Within a 40 year span the town lived, flourished and then died. Richer diamond deposits were discovered further south, operations were moved, and the desert sands reclaimed their space.

The images are haunting and gorgeous.

Convergence.

An appropriately symbolic (and titled) print by Jerry Berry for my Sunday drive home, as my sunny vacation converges with the daunting feeling of another week of travel.

I found this print via my latest obsession - 1x.com - a vibrant online photo gallery and social network community. Every print has been hand selected by a professional curator before being published, and the results are simply thrilling.
